Tara’s history with Candlelight Ranch started in 2006, when her angelic daughter Reese took her last breath in the arms of her mother due to a terminal illness. The doctor that took care of Reese introduced Tara and her family to the Ranch and she’s been passionate about the Ranch ever since. Since that time, Tara has served on the board as President for 2 different terms, the Advisory Council, and now she is excited to announce that she was given the opportunity to serve as Candlelight Ranch’s first ever Development Director! Tara said she has seen the organization change thousands of lives, including hers since she first came on board over 11 years ago. The unique and magical treehouse was dedicated in memory of her daughter because within 9 months she was able to raise $50,000 to make this dedication happen. The Treehouse is now known as Reese’s Treehouse. Tara said she can’t adequately describe the joy she feels when she hears the kids that visit say they had the best day of their lives and loved sleeping in Reese’s Treehouse. Tara said as a mother, volunteer and now staff, those are magical words to hear.
Tara’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Health and Wellness Promotion with a Secondary certificate. She began working for the American Cancer Society right out of college in 1999. She left the professional working world a few years later to raise her family and returned to the American Cancer Society serving as their Community Development Manager, furthering the mission in multiple counties in Central Texas, overseeing major events, managing volunteers and generating funds. In January of 2018 she was hired by Candlelight Ranch as their Development Director.
Tara is the mother of 3 children. She lives in Cedar Park and has lived in Texas just about all her life. She enjoys being active outdoors with her kids, giving back to the community and traveling when she has the time.
When asked about her coming to work for Candlelight Ranch, Tara said she’s a firm believer in things happening for a reason. She said she has finally landed her “dream job” and believes the seed was planted almost 12 years ago by a very special little angel.
